Staffing update

As many of you will be aware, Vienna Best left the nursery at the start of April whilst in her probationary period.  Following a series of successful interviews held over the past few months, we have recently appointed a number of new members of staff who have now joined or will shortly be joining the team.

I am sure most of you will have already had the chance to meet some of our new additions to the team, including Reanah Leonard who joined our Bumblebee team at the end of March.  Reanah holds a Level 2 childcare qualification and has been working in a nursery setting for the past 2 ½ years with children from 0-3 years.  At the beginning of April, we welcomed Sue Brimicombe to our Butterfly team.  Sue holds a level 3 qualification and has almost 12 years’ experience both in nursery settings as well as spending a period of time as a nanny.  We are also pleased to inform you that we have another new member of the team joining us shortly.  Ellie Spreadborough holds a level 2 qualification in childcare and is currently working towards completing her level 3.  Ellie has worked in a nursery for 4 years with children aged 0-5 years.  We are sure you will join us in welcoming her to the team once her security clearance is approved.

In addition to our childcare appointments, Amanda Neffgen joined our catering team this week.  Amanda holds a catering qualification and will be working across both our nurseries along with Ludmila to support Zoe with the cooking.

As we approach the summer, we anticipate a high number of our families will be leaving us to move on to the next exciting chapter in their lives.   We would therefore like to remind you that we require at least 4 weeks’ written notice advising us of your child’s last day. As we currently have a very long waiting list of families who wish to take up places in the summer, should you already know when you wish your child's last day to be and are able to give us more notice, we would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you in advance for your support.

As you will be aware from our previous newsletter and our notices displayed around the nursery, Ria Brennan from Roses and Poses Photography will be coming to take the children’s photographs on the morning of Wednesday 22nd May 2019.   Should you not wish for your child’s photograph to be taken, please inform the office prior to this date.  There is no obligation to purchase the photographs, however around a week after the session you will be able to view the proofs and place any orders should you wish.

Any children who do not attend on a Wednesday morning, but wish to have their photograph taken can come to the nursery between 9.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. and must be accompanied by an adult.

Lockdown drills

In line with government guidance for education/early years settings, we have created a ‘Lockdown Policy’ to outline the procedures to be followed in the unlikely event that we need to ‘lock down’ our building.  A building lock down may be required ‘to secure and protect occupants who are in the proximity of an immediate threat’. This procedure is used when it may be more dangerous to evacuate a building than stay insideWe will be sending out further information next week, to outline how we will introduce this procedure with the children. This will give details of the language we will use and more specific information about the procedure, and practice drills.  Should you have any questions after receiving this, please do not hesitate to see a member of the management team.
