Goodbye, farewell…..

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Louise Bond who currently works in the Bumblebee Room. Louise is lucky enough to be taking a year out to go travelling to Thailand and New Zealand.

Louise will be missed by both the staff team and the children.

We wish her well and hope she has a wonderful time on her travels!

(Please accept our sincere apologies that the above was omitted in error from our July newsletter in error)

We would like to wish all families who are leaving and all the children moving on to “big school” every happiness in this next stage of their lives. We will miss you all!

If any families would like to keep in touch via email, we operate a “pen pal” system. This allows families contact us with up to date news on their child which we share with the children in their group. The children at the nursery will in turn pass on messages for their friends, sometimes exchanging photos and will be able to help staff to type a return email.

We have found this is a lovely way for the children to keep in touch with their friends who have left and are missed at the nursery.

Please let us know if you would be interested in keeping in touch this way and we will take you details prior to your child leaving.

Sports Day

We would like to say a massive thank you to all parents who were able to attend our sports day.

I think you will all agree that the afternoon was very entertaining and a great success!

The children were fantastic, participating in races and cheering on their teams.

Those parents who participated in the parent races truly deserved the “exclusive” medals which were presented to them at the awards ceremony.

Well done to all who took part!

It is our practice at the nursery to provide opportunities for staff progression and development, whilst taking in to consideration staff skills and ensuring that these strengths are deployed evenly throughout the nursery. Summer is generally the best time of year to make changes as many children will be leaving and others moving rooms to the next age group.

For the past year or so the Dragonfly Room has been allocated as a second pre-school room, however due to high demand for toddler places, as of mid-September this will become a second toddler room (Bumblebee age). In light of this we will be making some slight changes to the deployment of staff.

From mid to late September the staff deployment will be as follows :

Ladybird Room – Donna Ryder, Sarah Bunting.

Caterpillar Room – Ceri Underwood, Raeannia Martineau.

Bumblebee Room – Natasha Bruce, Chloe Gittings, Vincenza Milazzo, Yasmin Sagaiar, Paige Konomanyi.

Dragonfly Room – Eleni Lampeti, Eleanor Holmes.

Butterfly Room – Samantha McLellan, Nicole Corry, Terri Jackson.

In addition to this, in her role as Lead Practitioner, Amy Terry will be sharing her time between rooms working closely with staff to further develop their skills and oversee the planning and assessment cycle.

Emma Carty will provide additional support across the Ladybird and Caterpillar rooms.

Samantha McLellan who will join the Butterfly room has been based at our sister nursery for 10 years and has also spent time supporting at Northwood. She will make the permanent move to Northwood Nursery on 11th September. Samantha is a highly skilled and experienced member of staff who, as well as being a key person, will take over the role of SENCO at the nursery, working closely with outside agencies to provide support for children with additional needs.

We would like to welcome Sam to the Northwood Team.

Whilst each child will be allocated a base room, the children in the Bumblebee and Dragonfly groups will be given the opportunity to free flow between both rooms throughout the day, to enable children to have the opportunity to explore all areas of learning.

Any parents whose children will change key groups or base rooms will be advised individually.

Should you have any questions regarding these changes please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Management Team.
