Dear parents

A couple of quick notes……..

Please can I kindly ask that you take some time to complete and return the parents questionnaire we sent out a few weeks ago. We have had less than 10% returned. Reflection on our service is really important to us and it is essential that we consider your thoughts when we are shaping our investment and progression in your children’s continuing journey with us. Thank you to those who have sent them in already and included lots of information for us to process.

This time of year provokes lots of emotion in us all. Periods of transition and change in the nursery will impact all children; sometimes even those who have been previously settled. The dynamics of the rooms and friendship groups change, often causing some feelings of uncertainty. Although this can at the time feel difficult to understand and deal with, it is to be expected and is a stage of child development. Children who have secure attachments, should feel unsettled when changes happen in their lives. It is to be expected and is part of developing resilience; an essential skill to mature and build on through life. If you have any specific concerns in relation to your child, please do speak to your child’s key worker or a member of the management team.

We were thrilled to welcome Mollie back this week, safe from her travels. She had a wonderful time and lots of exciting experiences, but was delighted also to be back. Mollie will be working with us and Northwood Nursery through the summer until she starts her teaching degree in September. We are also thrilled for Jemima who will be continuing on her education journey towards her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology. This does unfortunately mean that she will be finishing her permanent contract with us mid-August, however is going continue with Casual Bank work around her coming commitments. We are also sadly going to be saying goodbye to Oksana mid-August. Oksana and her family have decided to relocate out of the area, beyond a commutable distance. I’m sure you join with me in wishing them every success for their future. Lastly and by no means least Mike will be delivering his last football coaching session in his role with QPR Community Trust this Wednesday. I am in talks with QPR at the moment to ensure the provision of football coaching continues, as the children do really enjoy the session.

I am hoping that you will benefit from the developing changes in our planning and assessment tracking documents. We will be phasing in and sharing with you the new ‘Mapping Children’s Development’ plans and will appreciate a little of your time to input into these. All children who are transitioning have theirs ready in my office. Please can I ask you pop by and collect them from me.

We hope you liked the children’s photographs taken by Ria last month. You can still place orders directly with her if you have not yet done so and wish to. Should you still be interested in purchasing the group photos please do let me know. They are £10.00 each.

Finally, I would like to, on behalf of all staff, wish all the families moving on from the nursery lots of success and fun in the next phase for your children. Please do stay in touch. If you feel inclined a google review for perspective parents to read, would be valued.

Kind regards

Elaine Caffary
