Dear parents,

Please find below a few reminder dates for the Christmas events. We haven’t had many people sign up yet so please do let us know if you would like to attend.

This year we are going to accompany our singing with Makaton signs. If you would like a song sheet to practice these signs in advance of the event, please ask. Your children will be able to help you, as sometimes the symbols aren’t easily self-explanatory.

Our Christmas Sing a Long will be held on two dates this year. One will be indoors during a morning session and one outdoors in the afternoon in our front garden.  The indoor session can only have a limited number of parents attend, so we ask that only one parent per family comes, and unfortunately, no siblings. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis. The outdoor session is open to all. Feel free to bring grandparents and siblings to join in our festive outdoor singing.

Indoor Christmas Sing a Long - Tues 18th Dec 10.30am – 11.00am

Outdoor Christmas Sing a Long - Wed 19th Dec 4.45pm - 5.15pm*

Please remember that these are not West End performances and your children will likely show a little stage fright when they see you! However, they do create memories to be treasured, so if you are able to attend, please do.

*The outdoor event is weather dependant so if it is raining it will need to be cancelled.

We will also be holding two Christmas Tea Parties that you are welcome to attend with your child.

Green Butterflies & Caterpillars Christmas Tea with festive activities on

Wednesday 12th Dec 4pm – 5pm

Ladybirds & Yellow Butterflies Christmas Tea with festive activities on

Thursday 13th Dec 4pm – 5pm

Due to space restrictions within the building, as with the indoor sing a long, we do have to initially limit these tea time events to one parent per child and no siblings.  Nearer the time, depending on the numbers attending, we might be able to accommodate more. Please make sure you come to the office to let us know if you will be attending as this helps us to cater accurately.

The nursery will close at 6pm on Thursday 20th December. Please take note of this date if you have older siblings at school, as for the first year in a long time, we close before most schools. The nursery will re-open at 8.00am on Thursday 3rd January 2018.

Please could families return any nursery clothes they have at home. We have a complete shortage of trousers at the moment. Can I also ask that you ensure the children’s nursery bags have spare clothes in should they need changing. We want them to get really involved in activities and this can, on occasions mean they need to change after. The nursery stock of clothes should ideally be a backup.

We have decided to expand the tennis sessions the nursery buys in. Tennis will now take place on a Friday afternoon as well as a Tuesday afternoon. All children who previously took part in tennis coaching on a Tuesday will continue to access it on either a Tuesday or possibly a Friday, if they are in. Children, who attend a Friday but not a Tuesday, will now also have tennis coaching on the Friday. Please see your child’s key person if you would like to know the exact day they have been allocated to.

The children will make a post box to place Christmas cards in should you wish to write them for their friends. We will however also be collecting for Save the Children again this year. We suggest, should you wish to, that instead of sending Christmas cards you donate that money to charity. Many of our staff will do the same.

Linked into ‘Save the Children’ we will again be supporting their Christmas Jumper Day on the 14th December 2018. As not all of our children or staff attend on a Friday, we will fund raise all week. We would suggest a £2 donation for wearing a Christmas jumper any time between the 10th December and the 14th December. Thank you in anticipation of your support of this worthy cause.

Thank you for your support of this event. We raised £111.00. The older children learn valuable lessons in life when we support these events. Our children are so fortunate in their warm loving homes, its import they begin to understand that not every child experiences the same life opportunities.

Please could I remind parents there is no obligation or expectation to buy gifts for staff for Christmas. Christmas is always a challenging time of the year financially. I know despite saying this some parents do really want to buy something, so we do have an amazon wish list. The staff and children love to receive new toys or books for the nursery. Your thanks for the hard work of the staff is gift enough.

That just lastly leaves me to say, on behalf of myself and the staff at the nursery, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Best wishes

Elaine Caffary
